Friday 18.08.2023 In the presence of Messrs. (Riber Ahmed), Minister of Interior, and Zafer Abdul Amir, President of the Iraqi Chess Federation, and under the supervision of the Barzani Charitable Foundation, the Barzani International Classic Chess Championship was held at the Rwbar Hotel in Barzan. The tournament is registered internationally by the International Chess Federation FIDE through the Iraqi Chess Federation and the tournament was technically managed by the Khazad Chess Club. The tournament was in the Swiss system with five rounds of 40 minutes for each player and adding thirty seconds to each move. 22 players participated in the tournament
